At Preferred Technology Solutions, we take
Information Technology projects as seriously as you take your
business. Our systematic approach has proven time and time
again to produce the desired result on time and within budget.
Our experience and adherence to our tested approach enables
us to foresee and avoid many of the pitfalls of IT projects.
Analysis
The purpose of the Analysis phase is to understand the client's
business practices, direction, and perceived issues. Many
companies have a technology solution in mind before they fully
analyze the issues at hand. |

|
Some business practices, performance issues, or company desires
can't be fixed by merely putting a technology solution in place.
We've heard statements like, "We need a new server." But
instead of rushing to design and quote a new server, we ask, "Why?
What makes you think you need a new server?" Only after examining
the issues and the intended result would we be willing to recommend
a new server. It could be that there are other components or procedures
that would better address the problem. It's the prime directive
of our consultants to help the client uncover the true issues and
decide how best to meet them. Depending upon the needs and desired
outcome we can move to the next phase of the project.
Design
When designing a technology solution, our engineers
and consultants first study the existing infrastructure, consider
the information gathered during the analysis phase, and then design
a solution based upon the latest available technology products and
best practices principles. Budget is always a consideration, of
course, and weighing the expected return on investment is an important
part of a design. Our engineers are in a constant state of training.
New products, new methodologies, and emerging technologies are opening
new doors all the time. It takes time and resources to stay on top
of things, but the goal is, whenever possible and practical, to
integrate these new technologies into solutions for our clients.
Procurement
Perhaps our oldest core competency at Preferred Technology
Solutions is procurement. Our seventeen plus years in the industry
has afforded us the opportunity to forge strong relationships with
distribution and major manufacturers. We believe tier-one products
are the foundation to any "best practices" solution. We
have firmly in place the contacts to ensure the best possible availability
of those products, and the logistics designed to deliver them where
we need them and at the time promised. A variety of payment options
are available for both products and services.
Implementation
Once the issues are analyzed, the design completed
and the product procured, we are ready for implementation. This
step is actually a project within a project. Initial component configuration
is performed in our facility, when applicable, and every effort
is made to ensure the readiness of all equipment involved. Critical
information is gathered, and timelines are worked out between the
clients, users and engineers so that the integration process will
have the least disruptive effect possible. The final steps in the
implementation phase are testing and knowledge transfer. All projects
are different, but our approach to them is the same.
Support
One of the goals of the design phase is to create
a system that subscribes to the most up-to-date administration and
management tools, or ones the client already has in place. Our engineers
realize that on-going support is part of the Total Cost of Ownership
used to calculate overall Return On Investment. This is another
reason we use only tier-one products to create "best practices"
solutions. In the long run they are easier and less costly to support.
